Product Description:
Nothing ever published in the facility management field comes close to the unconditional acceptance of "The Facility Management Handbook". Extensively updated for the realities of today's workplace, the book gives readers the tools and guidance they need to wipe out inefficiency, and create a productive facility that integrates people, place, and process. In addition, the book includes 30 per cent new material, including indispensable information on sustainability and post 9/11 security concerns. Comprehensive and up to date, this is still the ultimate resource for facility managers.
Summary: Bible for FM
Rating: 5
I am a Certified Facility Manager (CFM) and an Interior Designer and have been in the industry for over 15 years working now as a consulant primarily focusing on strategic planning. This is recognized as the go-to reference for all that is Facilities Management (FM). I still, even with my experience, review sections and have referred this book to many peers and clients. Cotts will always be someone in our industry who brought FM to the forefront and makes everyone aware that it's not just "fixing toilets!" Recommended for anyone who is head of facilities management, planning, administration or real estate for both Government and private industry. Also, coming from the design community, this book should be on every planners shelf. The value chain cycle begins with concept, but many in the design industry forget that this includes construction, operations and maintenance, and lastly disposal.

Product Description:
This book is an undergraduate level textbook. It is an expanded version of the first edition. The prerequisites for this text are first year calculus and physics, and a two-semester course in circuit analysis including the fundamental theorems and the Laplace transformation. This text begins with is an introduction to the nature of small signals used in electronic devices, amplifiers, definitions of decibels, bandwidth, poles and zeros, stability, transfer functions, and Bode plots. It continues with an introduction to solid state electronics, diodes, bipolar junction transistors, field effect transistors (FETs), unijunction transistors, diacs, triacs, silicon control rectifiers (SCRs), and other PNPN devices. The highlight of this text is a long and detailed chapter on op amps. Integrated devices used in logic circuits, and their internal construction are discussed in another long chapter. It concludes with a discussion on tuned amplifier circuits and oscillators. It contains several examples with MATLAB computations and Simulink models. Includes an appendix on Proportional, Integral, and Derivative (PID) circuits A supplementary text to this title is our Digital Circuit Analysis & Design with Simulink Modeling and Introduction to CPLDs and FPGAs, ISBN 978-1-934404-06-5.
Summary: Awesome. 10 stars.
Rating: 5
This book lays out the many concepts of all of the common devices, clearly. I have the signals book from this author as well, and both books are extremely impressive in my opinion. It's really hard to find good textbooks for school, and the "required" texts usualy stink, and are filled with explanations that are written to impress. This book is not like that at all, everything is clear and concise, tables and diagrams here and there sum up the past pages throughout the book. I'd give this book 10 stars if I could, when you buy this book you're also supporting a GOOD business, a business that's interested in making your process of "getting learnt" easier!

Summary: GREAT BOOK FOR NEWBIE OR SEASONED VET
Rating: 5
Whether you are a beginner learning electrical engineering, or a practiced engineer who wants to bone up on the subject, then this, or any of Steven Karris' books are for you. They present just the right balance of theory and examples to give you the bedrock of the subject. As an engineer, I use his books to review forgotten principles, study for the PE exam, and learn to incorporate the use of MATLAB into my current work. And best of all, they COST LESS then the overpriced textbooks that most schools use....
